Social Studies

This a protest against the SNA in Northland. These people do not like the way SNA FNDC treats their land, they are maori men and woman. They walked from Hokianga on a Thursday and ended up at Kaikohe on Friday, this protest is very important to them.

 What is the topic?

Heart dissection, we have been learning about this for the past 3-4 weeks and I have learned lots about the heart including the way it pumps and where the blood goes.

This is a lung but there is a heart next to it and it is quite small. The right side of your heart receives oxygen-poor blood(blood that has not much to no oxygen in it) from your veins and pumps it to your lungs, It then picks up oxygen and gets rid of the carbon dioxide. The heart is quite a hard and complex system to explain.

It was really fun dissecting the heart and playing with it, although… It was a little smelly but nonetheless it was awesome. I had fun cutting it in the right places to the point where it flopped around like jelly.

I'm looking forward to doing plenty more experiments and just learning about our world in general. Science can be boring at times but also really fun it really depends on my mood. Next year I think we should do some more dissecting because it was awesome.

Food And Digestion

In science we've been learning lots about the human body. The main thing that we've learnt is food and digestion. It is really interesting to learn about this topic as we see inside the human body, I find it really fun examining the bones of dead things as it doesn't virtually but physically show us what it feels and looks like. Yesterday we did just that! we had to get into groups of three and record a video revolving around the key points of the bone.  Here is the video:

Show don't tell - short story

This is a show don't tell story about Te Pona. 😋

His bright white t -shirt was tight up on his slim body and flowing in the wind. He opened his big brown eyes and they shone upon the glowing sun. when the breeze comes past his hair as black as the night skies it blows slowly in the wind.

His deep voice talks constantly, churning out hilarious jokes and funny sounds. He is always getting good marks, “good boy Te Pona”. He walks around the whole school beside his many friends. His mouth squealing and saying stupid things throughout the day is amusing for everybody.

Te Pona values family over everything, he is a very loyal person and is always honest to his peers. His kind bright smile is always showing and he is a really cool person. His shoes shine like the sun as he sprints from his class into the unknown. Forever trying never giving up in his subjects, his pride strong as a kangaroo's boot to the head. Te Pona!!
